WHAT IS THE TURKEY POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE?

Regardless of the country you are from, you will more than likely have to submit (or you may have encountered, at least) a PCC whenever you need to apply for a new job or perhaps conduct any kind of commercial activity in a given region. The Police Clearance Certificate is often mandatory, and will have a wide variety of names, such as good behaviour certificates, good citizen certificates, judicial record extracts, police certificates, national police history checks, behaviour certificates, police records, good behaviour certificates, good conduct certificates, or background records.

The PCC may have many names across the globe, but one thing is common—it is a mandatory document that will spare no detail when it comes to your criminal past, if any. You will need this for work visas, residency visas,  commercial activities, new employment, further studies, opening new branches or expanding operations in a new region or country, as a prerequisite for licenses, and so on.

03

WHY DO YOU NEED A PCC?

Apart from making sure that you have a good, clean record of your past (and that your criminal record is detailed if any), the Turkey Police Clearance Certificate also serves as a prerequisite for when you are seeking a residence permit, or when you wish to apply for new employment opportunities within a better working landscape to enhance your career. It is also a requirement for founding an organisation, running an independent school, or even to get married.

You will also need your PCC when you wish to open a new branch and expand your business operations within a certain area, as well as to participate in any kind of commercial activity. It will help you remain in good standing with the government as it provides a snapshot of your profile within the community. You will also be needing a Turkey Police Clearance Certificate when you are applying for residency or work visas as well.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PCC?

As issued by the Ministry of Justice, Department of Judicial Records and Statistics, the Turkey PCC must be duly valid at the time of the visa’s issuance. You will be required to indicate the duration of your stay in Turkey, as well as provide a documentary proof of stay. You must also submit a First Entry and Last Exit date stamp along with all the pages of your visa in colour.

You will first have to write a letter to the Director of Criminal Records. Here, you will be asked to state your intentions, as well as authorize us to facilitate and collect the paperwork on your behalf. Indicate your full name, your date and place of birth, your place of residence in the country, along with a  completed application form. You will also need an attestation letter from the Turkish Embassy that will prove your stay in the country.  It will normally take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to complete the process. Don’t forget to include the purpose of your application for the PCC, and a copy of your Turkish Identification Card if you have one. You will also need a copy of your passport, driving license, and ten prints of attested fingerprint impressions.
