The Ministry of Labour in Qatar holds meeting to increase awareness on recruitment rules

The Qatar Ministry of Labour has called for a meeting that involves license holders regarding worker recruitment. This relates to hiring employees from abroad for third parties, and the meeting was held by the Complaints and Grievances Committee of Recruitment Offices.

The meeting’s goal is to increase the awareness of holders of licenses when it comes to the rules given by the ministry. It should educate the parties involved about the level of services and the procedures provided to the public. This should then be able to help the ministry communicate with recruitment offices as well, and should lead to the right balance in the market when it comes to hiring labour.

As such, the meeting also shed light on the various challenges that recruitment offices face when dealing with government institutions and labour-exporting countries. It is therefore imperative for these parties to adhere to the regulations imposed – for instance, the circumstances surrounding sums of money regarding workers that were returned to the office must be simplified. All rights – whether for domestic workers or employers – must be protected at all times.

Should recruitment offices have any concerns, the Ministry of Labour is open to responding to these issues to help facilitate problems, such as breach of contract and the like. As an example, any issue regarding domestic workers who attempt to escape employment should be dealt with properly to preserve the rights of employers as well. All these help to improve the overall situation of the labour market to ensure that both workers and hiring companies will not be shortchanged in accordance with the terms of employment.
