Qatar warns against fake job postings on social media

Especially during these turbulent times, everyone is urged to double-check any kind of false job offers and claims being posted online. In particular, The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) – which is currently in charge of the World FIFA Cup 2022 projects in the country – warned that there have been cases where job offers with the organisation have appeared on social media.

They have announced that these kinds of offers of jobs will be false. Everyone is encouraged to check the official website on Qatar2022.qa for the legitimate job vacancies that the SC has. Individuals are warned not to deal with anyone posting false job vacancies or sending fake offers. As such, the Committee will not be held responsible for any consequences when it comes to anyone sharing personal information and data.

This is also why it is important to route your official documents to trusted institutions that have been in the industry for many years and have a solid reputation in the business. It is important not to hand over any sensitive information to third-party fly-by-night organisations, and to make sure that all of the documents submitted are properly verified for authenticity. This is the purpose of apostille as well for all kinds of official documents.

In other news, the International Migrants Day in Doha lauded expatriates’ contributions in building the nation. “Qatar is witnessing an important stage in its history … moving forward in a comprehensive and accelerated development that it has not witnessed before, and expatriate workers play a role in this development,” says Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary-General Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi at Marriott Marquis City Center Doha.

“The current phase has witnessed many important legislative reforms to enhance workers’ rights and create a safe environment for work, (with) the sponsorship system abolished and replaced with the contracting system, and specific measures were adopted. The wage protection system was also adopted,” he continues.

“Throughout history, migration has been a brave expression of the desire of individuals to overcome difficulties and strive for a better life,” says Iman Younis Ereiqat, head of the UN Migration Mission. “Statistics indicate that there are about 281mn immigrants around the world.”
