In the country’s continuing efforts to combat human trafficking, the Ministry of Labour has officially launched a National Plan as represented by the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT). This initiative aims to unite all efforts from civil society and from the government to take on issues and to eradicate human trafficking, with plans to adopt different methods on how to prevent this as well as prosecute any offenders.
Victim protection is also part of the plan, with four principal pillars. The first revolves around taking precautionary steps to prevent exploitation, while the second offers assistance and protection to safeguard any victims. This also includes recovery, as well as the protection of the victims’ rights.
As for the third pillar, this deals with the prosecution of any offenders, ensuring that the perpetrators are penalised when found guilty. And finally, the fourth pillar offers measures on international as well as local cooperation in developing more efforts to combat human trafficking.
In other news, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a warning to the public to help prevent any cybercrime cases when it comes to messages from unknown senders. It’s important to stay vigilant and not share any personal information to prevent any kind of phishing attacks online.
According to the Ministry’s advisory, “Avoid responding to messages from unknown sources. Verify the identities of your friends on social media and only interact with people you know. Ensure age restrictions and content controls are enabled for young users.”
