Qatar stresses the importance of private sector in Labour panel

With Qatar’s ongoing efforts to further enhance its economic growth, the “Nationalization of Jobs in the Private Sector for 2025-2026” panel was held to highlight the private sector’s role in sustainable development. HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri delivered a speech on how consultations with the private sector need to be spearheaded to finetune the nationalization plan.

In the Ministry of Labour’s ongoing efforts to improve its digital infrastructure, the country has seen collaborations between public and private sectors that helped address various challenges in the industry. This includes updating digital services, facilitating processes for businesses, as well as simplifying work-related transactions.

According to HE the Minister of Labour, “We will collaborate with private sector institutions to implement a series of qualification and training programmes for job seekers, including university graduates, as well as students from higher education institutions and schools.”

With this, there will be a package of incentive programmes that will be implemented for the private sector, whether this means coverage of the employer’s contributions to the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority, or the awarding of businesses with excellent performances. These will of course be rolled out in phases, which also includes granting additional work permits. Among these incentives is the Qatar Nationalization Award for the private sector.

Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, was also in attendance, and stressed the role of nationalization in Qatari citizens’ employment. Of course, all these go hand-in-hand with the Qatar National Vision 2030 as the end goal.
