In order to further cement the unified goals of both nations, Qatar and the Kingdom of the Netherlands agreed upon a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as signed by HE Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Wopke Hoekstra. Among the signees was the Head of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Office in Doha Max Tunon as well, which was done on behalf of the ILO.
With this Memorandum of Understanding, both parties can engage in further cooperation in the fields of labour. In particular, concerns regarding methods of resolving disputes are included, as well as social dialogue. This also includes the protection of wages to ensure that all workers’ rights are upheld properly.
With the MoU, the countries can expect a more efficient exchange of info as well as the facilitation of delegations within these institutions. Both parties will also be able to exchange best practices in the field of labour. Other initiatives will be implemented as well, such as study visits, video conferences, seminars and more.
In other news, Qatar’s passport has been ranked by the 2023 Henley Passport Index at No 55, indicating that it has moved up based on the authoritative ranking of all passports across the globe. The main criterion is the destinations that passport holders can visit without a visa. With the Qatari passport, citizens can travel visa-free to 100 destinations.
