Beginning October 23rd, masks will only be required in health facilities. It’s important to take note that all workers who are employed in closed offices and who do communication with clients are still required to wear facemasks.
This new mandate comes as a decision made by the Cabinet during a regular meeting as chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani. It was held at the Amiri Diwan according to the official Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) prepared a report that was reviewed by the Cabinet in accordance with recent developments on Covid-19. The following were decided, according to Gulf Times:
“1. Amending the Cabinet’s decision issued in its regular meeting No. 31 for 2022, which had convened on August 31, regarding the wearing of facemasks to be as follows; citizens, residents and visitors are obliged to wear facemasks while visiting health facilities only. The decision stating that all employees and workers whose jobs require them to be in closed offices and communicate with clients must wear facemasks during their work hours remains active.
2. This decision will come into effect as of Sunday, October 23.
With this decision, people are no longer required to wear facemasks while using public transport.”
All these also come as preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The opening ceremony will be held at Al Bayt Stadium on November 20th. “We have always said that Qatar will deliver the best-ever edition of the FIFA World Cup. And as you look around the country today, at the state-of-the-art stadiums, the training pitches, the metro, the wider infrastructure, everything is ready and everyone is welcome,” says FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “The world is excited. Qatar is ready. The stage is set. Together, we will deliver the best World Cup ever on and off the field.”
