Qatari citizens will soon no longer need a visa in order to enter Schengen countries, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the ratification by the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament.
This comes as a step forward in exempting citizens from the required visa. According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Majed bin Mohamed al- Ansari, this issue will no longer be presented for deliberations in the European Parliament.
Citizens can look forward to tripartite deliberations which will involve the Council of the European Union, the Commission and the Parliament when it comes to the official text.
In other news, the new Hayya Card option has officially been launched to let fans without tickets enter the country via the “Early December” feature. They simply need to provide proof of accommodation, after which, they’ll need to pay QR500 to acquire the Hayya Card.
“It’s been a wonderful tournament so far. We’ve welcomed hundreds of thousands of fans from across the world for an unrivalled festival of football and exchange of cultures. As we move into the knockout stages of the tournament, we’re delighted to offer the chance for more fans to visit Qatar and experience the special atmosphere of the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world,” says Khalid Ali al-Mawlawi, deputy director general of Marketing, Communications & Event Experience of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC).
Those who are able to complete the Hayya Card application process are allowed to stay in Qatar until January 23rd. Those who have tickets for matches beginning December 3rd will not be required to pay the fee of QR500, while those who have paid the QR500 entry fee and who buy FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tickets for later will not be refunded.
