The registration for Haj this year (1444 AH), as announced by the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, will run from February 12th for a month. There will also be new requirements for expats according to the Haj and Umrah Department.
In particular, expatriates in Qatar should be no less than 40 years of age regarding this, and should have 10 years of residency in the country to apply for a Haj permit. The age requirement for Qatari nationals and GCC citizens in Qatar, on the other hand, is 18 years minimum.
Furthermore, according to department director Ali bin Sultan al-Misifri, applicants must have two doses of vaccines for Covid-19, with proof of vaccination. Other requirements include their ID card number and expiration date, their phone number, and the application form. The process can be completed online, where a copy of the passport and the email address will be required.
“Some improvements and amendments have been made to the registration system for this season at an initial stage, which will be developed in the future. All necessary details should be provided to complete the registration process,” says Al-Misifri.
In other news, the Cabinet has approved a draft law regarding nationalising jobs in the private sector. The regular meeting was chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani.
This includes incentives, facilities and privileges as well. Other issues reviewed include the outcome of the 35th session of Arab Ministers of Transport, along with particulars of the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption and more.
