The Ministry of Labour (MoL) continues to promote worker safety, especially as heat levels rise this season. In particular, an awareness workshop was held to highlight occupational hazards at worksites, with health guidelines and accommodation outlines needed to keep risks related to heat stress at bay.
With the summer months also come high cases of heatstroke in the workplace, which is why community leaders are urged to stay vigilant when it comes to the symptoms of heat stress.
The workshop was conducted by representatives from the MoL’s Occupational Safety and Health Department, held in partnership with the International Federation of Building and Wood Workers as well.
A complete set of guidelines was provided, including how crucial it is to be able to provide the right protective measures against heatstroke.
In other news, Qatar is also continuing its efforts to keep public transport safe not only in terms of heat but also in convenience and accessibility. The Ministry of Transport (MoT) is currently conducting a survey for the Qatar Public Transport Master Plan (QPTMP), which will run until August. These will be located at metro, tram and bus stations, as well as in malls and in public markets.
According to the official statement, “The MoT is pleased to invite the public to co-operate with its survey teams and take a few minutes to answer the survey to ensure the accuracy of the data gathered and help reach a better understanding of people’s needs in this respect.”
