The labour market in Qatar continues to thrive as the Ministry of Labour (MoL) approves 10,935 applications out of an estimated 18,027 new applications. These numbers reflect recruitment applications in June this year.
Among these, 3,303 applications were for profession modification, while work permit applications ended up with a total of 929. This includes applications for permit renewal, new permits, as well as requests for cancelling permits that have already been issued.
To ensure that labour recruitment offices are always at par with the necessary standard for these applications, the Ministry spearheaded 152 inspection visits, with four recruitment offices held in violation. This is to guarantee that recruitment processes are safe, streamlined, and in accordance with the state’s laws.
Additionally, the Labour Inspection Department also engaged in intensive inspection campaigns to keep institutions in check when it comes to compliance with laws and ministerial decisions. On the flip side, labour complaints numbered up to 2,210 complaints from workers.
In other news, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced that citizens can now enjoy easier transactions at the Directorate of Nationality and Travel Documents for QID and passport services. These are also available at the service centres at Al Khor, Al Wakra, Al Rayyan and Mesaimeer. Note that for the Directorate of Nationality and Travel Documents, passport printing and QIDs are open from Sunday to Thursday, while the service centres will only be available for these services during the morning shift.
