The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Qatar has updated its country lists as well as revised its testing policy to accommodate removal and replacement of countries in the Green, Red and Exceptional Red country list. The new system in place is called the Standard Health Measures and Red-List Health Measures in the State’s Covid-19 Travel and Return Policy.
In particular, the updates will begin to be implemented on February 28th at 7 pm on Monday (Qatar time). Basically, all countries will be under the Standard Health Measures, while select countries will be under the Red-List Health Measures. This is the only one that will be published – those that are not under this list will be considered under Standard Health Measures.
Under the Red-List Health Measures are Bangladesh, Egypt, Georgia, India, Jordan, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka.
As for travel policies in the State, the Covid-19 test must be done (pre-arrival) within 48 hours of the departure time. This test must be implemented at the country of origin. When it comes to citizens and residents, it is not a requirement to bring an RT-PCR test report before coming back to Qatar. This is required, however, if they are unvaccinated/non-immune, and will be returning from countries under the Red Health Measures.
For post-arrival, a Rapid Antigen Test is required for fully vaccinated citizens and residents within 24 hours of arrival. This can be done at any public or authorised private clinic. Unvaccinated/non-immune citizens will have to get a PCR test within 24 hours of arrival. This comes with a Rapid Antigen Test on Day 5 of home quarantine.
You can discover more about these new policies – and the vaccinated, unvaccinated or immune status – on the official website of the MoPH.
