For those who haven’t submitted their tax return yet this year, the General Tax Authority in Qatar has announced that it is extending the due date of submission for an extra month. The new deadline is now on May 31st, 2023 for everyone who is subject to the income tax law.
In particular, entities that are excluded from this due date extension include those within the petroleum operations and petrochemical industries. Taxpayers who have accounting periods that vary from Article (1) of the Income Tax Law promulgated by Law (24) of the year 2018 and its amendments are also excluded from this submission extension.
This extension of the deadline is in line with the GTA’s efforts to assist taxpayers when it comes to compliance and its principles. All companies must be committed to submitting their tax returns within the given period. This also helps various entities to avoid financial penalties due to missed tax dates. It’s important as well to ensure tax compliance for all entities to ensure the government’s efficiency in all the years to come. This is also why the government aims to make tax compliance as convenient and easy as possible when it comes to submissions and prerequisites.
In other news, the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs has rounded off the electronic screening of Hajj candidates according to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Special priority was offered to those that haven’t performed Hajj previously. This includes Qataris and residents whose applications were previously denied.
The deadline was on March 12th, and approved applicants were able to receive text messages for their registration with the approved Hajj campaign offices within the span of one week.
