Qatar has suspended the entry of visitors into the country beginning November 1st

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the entry of visitors will be temporarily suspended beginning November 1st and will resume on December 23rd. As for Hayya Card holders, they will be allowed to enter from November 1st to December 23rd with a permittable stay until January 23rd, 2023. While the Hayya Card allows multiple entries, it is worth noting that visitors who overstay will need to face legal consequences.

The details of this announcement were revealed at a press conference by the MoI. This includes the dissemination of more information on the various procedures for entry and exit, as well as the controls for visiting the country via air, land and sea. This is also in line with measures being prepared for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

According to Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah (director of Public Relations at the MoI and head of the Media Unit at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Security and Safety Operations Committee), “Entry of visitors to Qatar will be suspended effective from November 1, 2022, and their entry will resume starting from December 23, 2022. Holders of Hayya Card will be allowed to enter the country starting from November 1, 2022, until December 23, 2022, and they can stay in the country until January 23, 2023.”

Brig al-Muftah gave statements to the press along with executive director at the Office of the Commander of the Tournament Security Operations, Lt-Col Jassem al-Sayed.

These are all necessary in order to ensure the safety of everyone and to secure the entry and exit points during the event. When it comes to the citizens and residents, they can still complete procedures such as for holders of personal recruitment visas like domestic workers and drivers. This also includes holders of work and entry permits.
