Qatar government urges citizens to use the Metrash2 app for online transactions especially during pandemic

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is encouraging the public to use the “Communicate With Us” feature of the Metrash2 app to conduct various online transactions. The app not only offers plenty of services to facilitate procedures in different areas, but it also provides an easy and accessible avenue for users to reach out to the Ministry should they have any concerns.

The “Communicate With Us” feature of the Metrash2 app lets users report different kinds of traffic violations, as well as bring certain cybercrimes to the attention of the necessary government bodies. The public may also submit any kind of criminal complaints via the app (such as scams, non-payment of dues, and breach of trust) as well as take photos of violations that they have personally witnessed and use these images as supporting documents when sending complaints.

There is also a “Traffic” window in the “Communicate With Us” section, which enables users to report incidents such as individuals who occupy the designated parking spots for people with special needs. The public may also report about violators on the road who overtake from the right, along with those who are obstructing traffic or parking in areas that are prohibited.

According to the MoI, this service is a “key feature to provide many community awareness, security and general services. All its services are easily accessible”. This includes Inquiries, Economic and Electronic Reporting, Community Policing, CID, Criminal Complaint (Security Department), ‘Contact us’, Traffic and Criminal Evidence and Information (S’hail exhibition). This also includes queries on the General Directorate of Traffic, General Directorate of Passports and Human Rights Department.

As for the “Economic and Electronic Reporting” section, users can report about financial corruption, forgery, financial fraud, infringement of intellectual property, as well as money laundering. The public may also request for an awareness lecture, or even for an activity or exhibition participation.

All of these online services provided by the MoI come as additional assistance especially after the State’s Covid-19 precautionary measures were put in place. According to the MoI’s Public Relations Department in association with the General Directorate of Passports, these online transactions increased during the second half of 2020 and continued onto the first half of 2021.
