Qatar has been ranked as one of the least corrupt countries in the world, according to official studies. Achieving 63 points on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Qatar is now second in the Gulf and Arab countries. This also makes Qatar the 31st among 180 territories as indicated in the said index. This was detailed in the 2021 Transparency International CPI.
Based on the criteria created by various international organisations, the index serves as a reliable source for gauging such data. These organisations include the World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) issued by the International Development Institute as well as the World Economic Forum. It also includes the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Economist Intelligence Unit, along with the Patterns of Democracy project and the Country and Sector Risk Handbook of Political Risk Services to name a few.
The scale ranges from zero to 100, with the former being the most corrupt and the latter being the least corrupt. As such, the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority continues take careful measures to improve the integrity and the transparency of the country in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
In other news, the State also continues its efforts to keep Qatar safe for citizens and residents as the threat of the Covid-19 virus rages on amidst new variants. More countries have now been added to the Red List, and the Ministry of Public Health has updated its travel lists as well.
In particular, the MoPH’s Travel and Return Policy will implement its changes on Sunday, January 30th, at 7pm. The Exceptional Red List includes Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Nepal, Pakistan and the Philippines. The Red List has risen to 86 countries from 57. The Green List, on the other hand, now has 110 countries in the list, which has been reduced from 143 in the previous list.
