Qatar continues to streamline processes for its citizens by offering e-services across a wide variety of industries, which includes training and awareness of AI skills in both public and private sectors.
In particular, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has partnered with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to launch workshops for Small and Medium Enterprises. This is in keeping with the Digital Transformation Program for SMEs, which also includes the education sector.
For instance, demos of how AI can be applied to boost student experiences were facilitated, all leading to increasing efficiency of operations as well as growing business opportunities in the future. According to Director of the Digital Economy Department at MCIT, Faraj Jassim Abdullah, this is in sync with the Qatar Digital Agenda 2030 goals as well.
With this series of workshops falling under the “SMEs Go Digital” program, the country aims to enhance the ecosystem surrounding not just the education sector but also healthcare, wholesale, tourism, retail, logistics, and transportation.
And speaking of transportation, the Ministry of Municipality (MoM) has also launched an online system to help people reclaim abandoned vehicles via the Oun app. This should facilitate requests and help eliminate the need to visit service centres for reclamations.
The system includes towed vehicles that have been impounded within the three months’ designated reclamation period. This digital transformation goes hand-in-hand with Qatar National Vision 2030 as well.
