Amended recruitment regulations are now beginning implementations, according to the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA). The government authority announced the start of the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Decision N.21 of 2021, which will effectively revise some provisions of Resolution No. 8 of 2005. This is in regards to the regulations of the conditions as well as the procedures for licensing when it comes to the recruitment of workers from abroad.
Office owners should take note of these amendments. According to the decision, the ministry shall issue restrictions for office owners and other concerned authorities for worker recruitment, especially for employees from abroad. The most essential amendments include revisions on labor legislation. This will also take into consideration all of the policies and regulations from the recruited employee’s country of origin.
More importantly, the employer should provide the recruited worker a copy of all the required data with due signatures. A signed copy of the conditions of work should also be provided from the employer, as well as a work contract. All these should be provided before the worker is recruited, and before his arrival into the country.
Note that the work contract must be according to the same conditions accepted by the employee. The employer must also provide private housing and meals for the recruited workers, as well as a guarantee of an additional six-month probationary period for the user that starts after the end of the three-month preliminary testing period.
All these should be implemented bearing in mind all of the necessary precautions for COVID-19 restrictions, even as other provisions for travel are gradually lifted. This includes the provision that everyone is encouraged to receive the vaccine out of their own initiative, in order to curb the spread of the virus. Taking the vaccine as soon as possible not only protects the individual and their family and friends, but also society as a whole.
“The Ministry continues to monitor key performance indicators to ensure a balance between the continuity of providing protection to the population on the one hand and restoring social and economic life to normal, on the other hand,” said the Ministry of Public Health in a statement.
Lifting of the restrictions will only work to the advantage of citizens if everyone abides by the regulations on the vaccinations, as well as safety protocols of frequent handwashing and wearing masks in public areas. Phase 4 of the Gradual Lifting of COVID-19 Restrictions will begin from July 30, 2021.
