Tragically, these families may not earn enough to provide a good standard of living for their children, nor may they have enough to sustain a good quality of life.
As such, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA)’s social affairs department offers financial assistance to families in need, enabling them to apply for social security aid to lend them a helping hand.
First of all, what is a needy family? This is defined as “A Group consisting of a husband and wife(s) and their children or some members of this group all living in one dwelling under the same roof and share the same life jointly and do not have sufficient income to live on.” If your family falls under this description, you may apply for the aid online simply by downloading this form.
After filling it out completely and with accurate information, you will need to provide the necessary documents to the Social Security Department for approval. This includes the QID of the head of the family, as well as the QID copies of the wife and all children over 18 years old (plus their certificate of continuing education for those who are attending school). For children who are still minors, their birth certificates must be submitted as well. For females above 18 who are no longer enrolled in education, there must be a non-marriage certificate.
Keep in mind that these documents must be submitted along with the original copies for verification. The approval process will take about a month, as it will be submitted with a recommendation for either rejection or approval to the director of the department. Once approved, the decision will be relayed to the applicant via SMS or via telephone. The amount of financial aid will be QR6,000 each month. For married elder citizens, it will be QR2,000 for the wife and QR1,000 for each offspring. Whenever the pension payment card will be renewed, the pensioner is required to submit an annual statement.
Should the pensioner have a medical condition, a mental health illness, or be involved in any kind of misconduct, the Social Security Department may then provide the pension to the wife or to the children instead. This may also be provided to a trustee.
