Unified e-service for Qatar Visa Portal
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has launched a new Qatar Visa Portal that will enable users to submit applications for visas for entry into the country, for official purposes such as business endeavours and investment concerns. According to the Visa Support Service (VSS) Department director Maj Abdullah Khalifa al-Mohannadi, “The application form does not exceed one page. Any user can fill the form electronically from anywhere in the world within a very short time. If the application meets the required conditions, visa is issued within 48 hours.” This should effectively facilitate the visa application process for everyone involved.
“The portal is dedicated to provide tourist visa services for attending major events including the Gulf Cup, the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup and 2022 FIFA World Cup,” he said. “Qatar hosts many different cultural, scientific, sports and tourism events throughout the year. These events attract a lot of people from inside and outside the country. There is a need to establish an exclusive platform that receives applications for visas to enter the country. The portal will ease the proceedings and makes application simple and smooth.”
Furthermore, the new visa application portal aims to help applicants access the services easily, contributing greatly to the economic growth of the state in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. It should be able to attract more tourists as well as more foreign investors as Qatar continues to be one of the most open countries in the world.
“The number of visitors is remarkably going up, thanks to the programmes hosted by the country. Presently, passengers from more than 90 countries are eligible for on arrival visas when they arrive at Hamad International Airport,” he said.
Applications require an e-mail ID, an application fee, copies of an individual’s passport, flight ticket, photo, and hotel reservations. He or she can also use their residence details in Qatar. Details of the events need to be provided, as well as multiple events with a 30-day visa validity period. This can be extended for another 30 days. This application must be made at least four days before travel, and a person’s passport should be valid for six months at the very least from the date of entry.
In collaboration with the Qatar National Tourism Corporation, the Qatar Visa Portal also lists down the complete details of transportation, accommodation, and tourist destinations for every event.
