Qatar energy efficiency gains boost in Katara and Kahramaa MoU
A memorandum of understanding was signed by the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara). This is in line with the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed”.
With the overall goal of increasing awareness when it comes to energy efficiency, the memorandum of understanding is proof of the cooperation between Kahramaa and Katara when it comes to the exchange of information and joint activities for both parties. Various competitions and events also foster the relationship between the two, as well as enhance the healthy dissemination of information when it comes to the culture of energy conservation. It’s incredibly important to be able to develop the public’s knowledge and perception when it comes to conserving vital resources. There should be an overall increase in the spread of best practices to maximize the most efficient use of water and electricity for the benefit of future generations.
During the press conference speech of the General Manager of Katara Dr Khaled bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, he highlighted his high hopes that this new MoU will increase more prospects for cooperation between the two bodies. It is essential to help familiarise the public with the proper methods of energy efficiency even with small steps from the comfort of their home. It is therefore a noble cause to strive hard for. More fruitful endeavours should help raise awareness and improve the public’s education via activities, public events, workshops, and competitions all pertaining to the right technologies in energy conservation.
This is due in part to the continuous efforts of Katara when it comes to cooperating with various bodies of authority within the Qatari government and being able to build advantageous relationships through the years.
With a more positive outlook for the future of energy conservation, the two parties hope to achieve more productive endeavours between them and the whole of the Qatari society to promote sustainability when it comes to all forms of energy. This is also in line with the goals of the country’s 2030 National Vision for better overall developments in the environmental, social, economic, and humanitarian aspects of the nation. The national program “Tarsheed” has already achieved the laudable goal of reducing 12mn tonnes of toxic carbon emissions thus far in its eighth anniversary.
