Huawei and New Horizons Partnership Boosts Education Programs
Global information and communications technology (ICT) giant Huawei forms partnership with New Horizons Computer Learning Centre in Qatar to boost education initiatives in the country. This newly inked partnership aims to offer a wide variety of world-class training courses to the local community via the Huawei University and Academy, as signed by Huawei Qatar chief executive Frank Fan. The agreement was also inked by Seham Hanafi, the general manager of New Horizons.
This fruitful collaboration will span a wide range of years, allowing enrolled students from the New Horizons Computer Learning Centre valuable access to training courses from the Huawei University and Academy. These said courses will provide learning certifications and qualifications utilizing IT technology and platforms of global scales and of the highest standards of excellence.
“There is an increasing need to ensure that the workforce of tomorrow is familiar and comfortable with the technologies that will power the smart future that Qatar is progressing towards,” said New Horizons’s Hanafi. “By partnering with Huawei, we are reinforcing our capability to provide students with top-class training opportunities that align with the breakthrough global technologies that are being adopted in the areas of smart city development, the Internet of Things, and more.”
Back in 2018, Huawei established a new office at West Bay in Doha. It was also one of the first companies in Qatar to register with 100% ownership, boosting its capabilities to drive the development of the ICT industry in the country. This initiative also aims to promote economic diversification, all in pursuit of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
“The Huawei University and Academy is our way of contributing to the development of future ICT (information and communications technology) talent around the globe, enabling them to drive the technological innovation that will lead us into a more intelligent world,” Huawei Qatar chief executive Fan said. “Moreover, ICT education is not all about technical capabilities. It is about fostering ongoing collaboration between academia, students and the private sector, supporting the kind of lifelong learning that makes nations more prosperous in a global economy.”
Apart from basic technological skills that help foster critical thinking among students, the courses will also promote best practices when it comes to technological applications, as well as creativity among forward-thinkers and innovation. Courses include Cloud Computing, IoT (Internet of Things), Switching, advanced IP (Internet protocol), Big Data, 5G, IT (information technology), Routing, and Network Security. All these and more will teach eager students to learn more about what it means to build an interconnected society in this ever-changing and increasingly mobile world.
