2020 MSME Forum Hosted By Qatar
The 2020 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Forum will be hosted by Qatar this time around. With the rising nation’s unparalleled standards of excellence when it comes to hosting high-level global events, the country once again showcases its commitment to world-class quality with its hosting of this prestigious international forum.
The international event is owned by the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), and it holds the title of the oldest and largest organization in the world that tirelessly promotes entrepreneurship and SME development. This invaluable platform serves as a gateway for the empowerment of MSMEs. Key persons and delegates will reach more than 700 attendees.
Earlier this week, the United Nations MSME Day celebrations held in New York selected Qatar as the host country as led by the Faculty of Business at Qatar University (QU). This bid was held in collaboration with Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), and delegations from QU, QNTC, and Qatar Development Bank (QDB) were present.
The highly commendable team presented the bid for the MSME 2020 Forum by showcasing Qatar’s impressive and lucrative environment for commerce and international trade, especially for thriving small and medium businesses.
“Growing a vibrant, prosperous, and competitive private sector in Qatar begins with the success of our young entrepreneurs and SMEs,” said Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, CEO of QDB, at the MSME Day celebrations. “We strive to achieve Qatar’s National Vision by seeding and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within the Qatari community.”
In addition, Assistant Secretary General of QNTC Hassan Al Ibrahim said, “In Qatar, we believe that entrepreneurs are integral to building any sector. In tourism, we incorporate MSMEs into tourism products and events. It is how we ensure that visitors enjoy an experience that is both innovative and authentic, embodying the spirit of Qatar.”
“CBE pays special attention to developing the skills of the new generation of entrepreneurs from QU and the broader community,” said Acting Dean of College of Business and Economics (CBE) Professor Adam Fadlalla. “Hosting the MSME Forum aligns well with QU’s innovation and entrepreneurship strategy 2018-2022 and is going to strengthen our ongoing collaboration with ICSB and promote Qatar’s research in entrepreneurship and innovation worldwide.”
